Do you mean the dashboard widget? It is already possible to filter for taxa on the flags page.
You can filter for taxa, but you can’t filter for people specifically looking to add taxa as OP mentions.
I am trying to help here and found that qiute a few of the old flags are unresolved because no decision is taken, there is a discussion that does not come to a conclusion. Should we bump these flags and see if it can be decided now and if not, then either close or declare it high priority and call in all curators for conclave??.
If it seems that there isn’t any strong opinion or if people aren’t responding I just make a decision.
If you mention that you have an observation for that taxon, it will make a difference. iNaturalist discourages adding taxa without observations for the sake of completeness. It results in maintenance overhead for unused taxa.
hi there, everyone! here is my take: I never look for flags specifically! but my interest is, to turn iNaturalist into a more useful tool for my own hobby, the moths! I may come across flags and then happily try to solve them immediately.
already as a boy I had a cardfile on animals: a photo, latin name, weight, size, etc. It was a box, perhaps 500 cards… then later on, I made another cardfile for the Palearctic Noctuidae: 25 boxes with thousands of cards; photos taken from library books just for my own use; the main reason: I couldn’t afford the Seitz volumes, which were prohibitively expensive; unfortunately, I threw all of it in the bin as it was too large to move it around with my other belongings; just one of the boxes left: Catocala… then came the laptop age where I was compiling Noctuidae names, just text… until finally I became aware of iNaturalist! But my main problem is still largely unsolved: to have a comprehensive checklist of all larger moths worldwide, a picture, a name, a distribution; I am working on it!
when I go through moth taxa, I always have the above goal in mind; therefore I create new taxa even if there are no observations; they will come, one day or another; I will look out for synonyms and complete those (back to 1880); I am very keen to get a “geographical handle” for each taxon; that’s mostly the type location, some geographical distribution mentioned in the literature or actual iNaturalsit observations in the best case; that’s how I come a cross flags; and I have done many of them …
I will create new taxa or look at a flag, if someone asks me specifically; but that doesn’t happen very often; I need that personal communication with it, you know; I am not a robot; thank you for understanding

Do we have taxon framework for that on iNaturalist? Looks like it’s just WoRMS to me.
