Dealing with Account Deletion

There must be some way that the ID can be retained – surely a mere note about “Someone suggested this species for your observation” is not breaking any sort of privacy/EU regulations.

As was stated in the first post:

iNaturalist will always allow users to entirely delete their content from the site , both as a matter of principle and because laws like GDPR

So to reiterate, this isn’t just about laws, it is also about principle. We’ll work on an anonymization option for those who want to delete their account but want to leave their contributions here anonymously. I’ll close this topic.
