(Beware of the English demagoguery heavy backlash that happened to these Kew Gardens botanical collections decolonisation plans,
well and compassionately prepared by Alexandre Antonelli.
I read some it in the English media at just after this publication’s time —heavy, bad, harmful to plans for justice, demagoguery IMHO. ) .

i’m not sure why you’re bringing up this article 3 years later, but i think folks looking at it today should step back and remember what was happening at this time. it was the first Juneteenth after the death of George Floyd, and thousands of people all around the world had been marching in a show of solidarity, even in the midst of pandemic lockdowns.

here’s a related conversation that was taking place in the iNatForum at roughly the same time: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/what-can-inaturalist-do-to-better-support-people-of-color/13248.

I’ve unlisted this topic and will close it. The iNat Forum is for having constructive discussions about iNat-related topics. The original post here is not a conversation starter, just a link to an article, and the forum isn’t a place for activism, I’m sorry. There are many other online platforms one can use to achieve those goals.
