Thanks you for clarifying between flagged and deleted. I am still concerned that an AI LLM model is making decisions to flag comments however.
the post of yours that was hidden says it was flagged by the community, not by an automated process. this means that other forum members – people, not AI – likely found something in your post to violate the community guidelines. i believe that if you go in and change your post to be less objectionable, then moderators have the ability to unhide the message.
there have been 800+ posts about this whole thing scattered across several threads, and only a tiny fraction of the posts have been deleted by the authors themselves or hidden due to moderation. i’ve had some posts of my own get hidden for whatever reason, and i just moved on. there was nothing so important in the post(s) that it was worth getting upset about. maybe you should just move on, too.
This does not seem like a person responding
it’s an automated message, and you got it because a person flagged your post for being off topic. the person who flagged your post even explained in another thread exactly why they flagged it. the automated message is not generated by AI. we’ve had automated messages long before the widespread adoption of AI.
if you want to complain about automated messages, i suppose that’s your choice, even if that won’t lead anywhere except to maybe more flags for being off-topic. to me, it seems like the most productive thing would be to move on and get back on topic.
I think someone said my post had to do with Google maps and not AI on iNaturalist. My concern was if Google is not willing to handle geographical data responsibly, maybe they should not be handling iNat data. Not sure how I feel about free mental health advice. Is this because I have a neurodiverse label on my profile? I hope not.
i’m looking at your profile on the forum and on the main site, and i don’t see anything that looks like what you’re describing. all my comments to you up to the point you self-identified have been delivered without consideration of neurodiversity.
i’m going to get back on topic now.
I moved the above posts from https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/what-is-this-inaturalist-and-generative-ai/66140
@lakekoshare if you have a question about a moderation decision, it’s best to ask it in Forum Feedback or email forum_moderators.
I explained why I hid your post here, and that you can edit it if you want to and it will be visible again. If you have questions you can ask here or message me if you want.
Was this the unsolicited mental health advice? Because it comes across as dismissive. Only the writer of a post can decide whether its contents are worth getting upset about.
I think I’ve had one post hidden in last 5 years or so. It was deservedly so, I was off topic and probably too cranky in my verbiage.
That was me, too.
We should get a badge for that.
Some of my flagged comments I defanged and declawed.
And some, I stand by what I said. If it is hidden, it is.
Ditto.
I was a little proud… it took quite awhile to earn that!
It’s a shame that they show the badges but not the demerits.
On my project list it shows up.
