Does the presence of diverse lichen really make a big difference in terms of healthy environments?

I think the question relates more to direction of causality rather than anything else (there’s certainly a correlation). If this is indeed a homework question then at least the person appears to have gone out and collected data. Pity that the data (observations) cannot help answer the question if that’s the case. Which makes me wonder why, if this is homework, the teacher asked the question in that way, if it’s not misinterpretated, in the first place

Edit: is it normal for teachers to try and trick students?

Hi @reisnersam, as stated on the About page of this forum,

This is a forum for iNaturalist users to discuss iNat-related topics, report bugs, and request new features.

It is not a place to get help with homework. The Internet offers plenty of research opportunities to find answers on your own.

Thanks to other users that have contributed their thoughts.

If I have misinterpreted your post, please let us know, otherwise it will remain closed and unlisted from the forum. Thank you for your understanding.
