DOT Roadside Plantings - Wild or Cultivated?

I’m just wondering if observations of wildflowers that were deliberately planted by that state DOT should be marked as cultivated or wild. I have an observation that fits this category which I left as wild but I want to do it correctly.

Thanks!

i’d mark as cultivated if the seed appears to have been spread this year. If the wildflowers persist and spread over the next few years they might be considered wild. Basically what it comes down to is whether a human put that individual plant there or not.

And yeah, there’s lots of grey areas, and the line isn’t perfect, but we want to draw it somewhere.

Thanks, that is helpful. It was an observation from about 10 years ago, so I honestly don’t remember if they’d been there awhile or not.
