I think I am supposed to add a comment not just post a link. But I have no words. Except to point out it is like pruning or cutting down trees in Spring, when birds are likely to be nesting. I did that once when I was young and realized my mistake, but it is common, and we don’t seem to have any common wisdom and practice about it, at least in NZ society. Perhaps not in Australia either.
Both our countries were founded on using livestock to produce goods for trade, perhaps that has fostered indifference to animals’ well being?
