Quite often I fix the wrong ID Nivenioideae from North America, which are actually native Iris species. It was surprising why the participants choose these South African plants for the local irises. But then I looked at the common name and everything cleared up. A question for native english speakers: does the common name Blue Flag really apply to ‘Nivenioideae’ subfamily? It’s not a mistake?
Blue Flag is the common name I learned in northern California for Iris missouriensis.
