Filter "Unobserved_by_user_id" not working

Please fill out the following sections to the best of your ability, it will help us investigate bugs if we have this information at the outset. Screenshots are especially helpful, so please provide those if you can.

Platform (Android, iOS, Website): Website

App version number, if a mobile app issue (shown under Settings): N/A

Browser, if a website issue (Firefox, Chrome, etc) : Firefox

URLs (aka web addresses) of any relevant observations or pages: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=431&taxon_id=47126&view=species&unobserved_by_user_id=hydaticus

Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.):

Step 1: Go to the “Explore” tab

Step 2: Filter by locations and taxa including some you have seen

Step 3: Add a filter to the URL to only include things you have not seen (for me, this would be “&unobserved_by_user_id=hydaticus”)

The result used to be only those taxa that were seen in the chosen place by others but NOT by me in any location. This was useful for targeting things I haven’t seen, and I really like that functionality. As of the past week, the list is mostly things I haven’t seen, but about 10-20% of the list are things I have seen, often in the location specified and often more than once. For example, in the URL linked above, the first species is Antelope Horns, which I have seen several times, including in the specified location.

Thanks!

I’m not familiar with this feature, but perhaps this thread is helpful?

Oh, interesting. Including “&rank=species” does fix the issue. Thanks!
