Fun Fact: the book below is based on an awesome podcast in which the hosts interview scientists, artists, and makers of all kinds about their favorite tools. Two of the interviewees–Magazine writer Joshua Berman and entrepreneur David Lang–cited INaturalist as one of their favorites.
Topics here should start a discussion, not just a share a link. Did you have question or thoughts to share with the community about this and how it relates to iNat?
Not really–Just want to share news of Inaturalist’s growing reach, and to introduce people to descriptions of the ways creative people use the app. If it isn’t appropriate for the forum, by al means delete. I just thought people might be interested.
This sure looks like a discussion starter to me. Neither of these are commonly thought of as occupations where iNaturalist would be an expected tool.
Clicked thru to Joshua Berman - since he writes about ‘camping and hiking’ it is reassuring that some of his info rests on iNat.
I think it’s fine to share a link, but I think the onus is on the OP to frame it a bit, like in this case mentioning why Joshua or David say they use iNaturalist, or ask the community if they’ve read it, or something along those lines.
I should emphasize this isn’t about you personally at all, I’m just trying to make sure there’s a bit more intentionality when people share links in keeping with the forum’s goal of fostering constructive discussions. I’ve definitely done the same thing when sharing links in the past, so it’s something I’m trying to keep in mind as well.
