Games that help you with iNat training and geography training?

The best way to learn IDs is by diving in and doing them!

But it can be overwhelming to sift through unknowns when you’ve got a lot on your plate.

That’s why I’m grateful to you for posting on the forum — you have introduced me to games that make learning IDs, and learning global geography, fun and engaging!

These games are a fun way to start the day, and you learn a lot! I’d love to hear your suggestions if you know any more of these “iNat training games”!

I hadn’t heard of any of these. The first one is fun, the others not so much (imo). Thanks for the links!

This is a cool website based off of iNat observations:

I found iNatGuessr from an AVNJ video and have been loving it ever since. It’s an awesome way for me to practice my fish geography skills. It has also made me realize that while I’m pretty good at IDing the fish, I’m not as good about knowing their native ranges aside from pacific/indian/atlantic (if that). Would definitely recommend to all naturalists.

ah - that’s a fun site. Was even more fun when I got asked to ID one of my own observations.

Andrew, I hope you got that one right! :joy:

I’ve gotten 3 of my own observations before when going through Bivalves.

I may have misidentified one of my own observations … mostly because I mixed up the common name with a different species

I tried iNatGuessr on everything everywhere mode and I suck. A selection that showed a kangaroo led me to Australia but garden snails and common selfheal? I’d rate this as frustrating fun. The others I’d assess as not fun.
