Gas station projects

I went out yesterday, stopped at a gas station, and observed a bug on a post. I searched for projects and found two:
https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/biodiversity-of-gas-stations
https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/organisms-found-at-gas-stations
Which should I add it to? Are there other projects which I overlooked because they’re in another language?

Both of them.

Is there something about gas stations that is interesting in terms of biodiversity, or maybe the lack of it? Just curious. I’ve photo’d a few things while at a gas station but didn’t consider that an important aspect of my observation.

Both gas stations, rest stations along longer roads and railways/ trainstations can be pretty interesting, because many plants travel along the roads/ railways. Here in Europe, where trains are a bit more common for longer distance -travel than in the US  we have a project on biodiversity around railway facilities (mainly trainstations) (for Germany) - whenever a long-distance train is delayed, you can check out the biodiversity that you see at the station, or on slow local trains that stops in every small city you can try to make some quick shots through the window while the train stops on the station.

Maybe it would be cool to make an umbrella project including both rail and roads? Or maybe eben any type of transport network (including (air)ports)…

when i lived in a rural area i would often see cool bugs at the gas station, i think it was a combination of the biodiverse location (western NC mountains) and the 24/7 bright lights at the gas station. and of course having to stand there for a couple minutes while the pump’s going, you may be just more inclined to look around and notice things you wouldn’t normally.

now, in the suburbs, i rarely notice any cool critters at the pump.

as for the OP, i would either submit to both or the more senior project - in this case the second link

Good points. Although most of the wildlife I’ve observed at gas stations at night would not be considered suitable for iNat.

I remember watching these swallows while filling up at a small-town gas station. The parents didn’t seem to care that they nested in a busy spot.

I’m in western North Carolina and cross the mountains at least twice a week. The bug is of a species with not many nearby observations.

Humans?
