Please fill out the following sections to the best of your ability, it will help us investigate bugs if we have this information at the outset. Screenshots are especially helpful, so please provide those if you can.
App version number, if a mobile app issue (shown under About in the side menu):
051.0(120) Screenshots of what you are seeing (instructions for taking a screenshot on computers and mobile devices: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org/):
Description of problem (please provide a set of steps we can use to replicate the issue, and make as many as you need.):
Step 1:
Open an observation with (by default) hidden geolocation
Step 2:
Move to details
Step 3:
Geolocation is hidden (correctly) but the text claims it’s open
I’ve been trying to reproduce this by looking at other users’ obscured observations, and so far everything I’ve checked matches what we have on the iNaturalist website. Sometimes geoprivacy shows as open, and sometimes it shows as private on web for obscured observations. I think the important thing here is making sure we have web parity, so would love to know if there’s an an example observation where we’re not being consistent with web.
Fwiw, the geoprivacy description reflects what the user who posted the observation set as that observation’s geoprivacy status. So an observation can be obscured for conservation reasons, even if the user wanted the geoprivacy to be open. In that case, the observation would show as obscured, and geoprivacy would say “open.”
