I have observed (on trail cam) a deer following a gray fox. Anyone out there seen this?
welcome to the forum!
I googled it and found this article about deer licking other animals, including fox, on islands: https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2017/10/why-is-this-deer-licking-this-fox/543621/

That was just what I needed as a pick me up today. :)
I just noticed on your profile that you are a fan of the Channel Islands. The article I linked discusses an unusual deer-fox interaction on Santa Catalina Island. Is that the location of your trail cam observation?
Not on the islands, but on the mainland. Specifically near Jameson Lake on the upper Santa Ynez river where I live and work. I captured two separate video clips in which the deer is clearly following the fox.
