Having a dedicated Tech category on the forum?

Hi forum moderators. Thanks for all the work you do to keep the forum running smoothly!

I was wondering what you think about having a dedicated “Tech” category? We get quite a few questions about gear — like cameras, microscopes, moth lights, and so on — and it might be nice to have a single place to collect those discussions.

It’s just a friendly suggestion though — if you feel that it already fits well in General and other categories, then it’s no problem.

That does sound like a good idea, especially since those discussions are not necessarily directly about using iNaturalist (General category), and also are not Nature Talk per se.

Perhaps this Tech topic could encompass software as well since those questions and discussions come up every so often (browser extensions, sites using inaturalist data, apps, API questions, etc)

I love this idea too! I am trying to more notes about macro photography beyond just my cellphone because I would really take my photos a step up
