Help for removing Unknowns more consistently

Be aware that when you look at an obs there are two - matching or different IDs depending

  1. CID in the box in the right column.
  2. The ‘display’ ID up top, which is the one that taxon specialists can filter for.

Unless the broader ID is hard disagreement with yours, it is not a problem. For each obs like that, I would weigh up - am I wrong, are they a taxon specialist with better knowledge than my tentative ID, or shall I @mention someone to convince the CID algorithm ???

There seems to be a periodic delay as the system figures itself out.

Every day I unsubscribe from 10 to 20 observations that I identified up to 3 years ago as “Fungi” or “Faboideae” and that now get a better ID. (Many more when I come back from vacation…)

We have been told that the notification system will be reworked some day.

Now that the “unknowns” projects exist, there is in principle no more need to spend time to ID unknowns as “Fungi”, “Dicot”, … provided the identifiers find out and use these projects.

(Fortunately, we don’t get a notification when an observation we have added to a project gets an identification…)

Can’t you just turn off identifications that agree to yours?

Unfortunately even with ‘mentions’ and ‘Confirming IDs’ turned off, I still get notifications when someone adds a “confirming+refining” ID (example: confirming my species-level ID by adding a subspecies)
