In an ideal world, that is how it works. But in reality, when you try using the app offline, it will often split a single observation into two observations: one with just a photo and no metadata, and the other with metadata, but no photo.

what sort of device are you using? i use the app a LOT and pretty much always offline, or at least i never ever use auto sync. And it works fine. I’ve never had it split into two observations.
