It’s a mix between iNaturalist Seek app and classic Pokémon. You photo wild animals to identify them and catch them to add them to your team. It uses the iNat API to fetch the animal’s call (sound) and play it when you encounter them.
I thought this was a cool use of iNat data, using CC BY license with attribution and CC0 license.
Does this include every single species in inaturalist?
Sounds like fun. I gave it a try near a national forest, but it didn’t recognize the only animals I could catch up to - insects. LOL Will have to try again when I am in a park where animals will let me get close enough to take photos with my phone.
Apologies, you need to restart the app, I can see you’re running on the old version. After today, new users won’t need to restart, it will just work (was my error).
It’s probably not quite as good as iNaturalist at identifying species, but still pretty good. They use their own trained/tuned AI model, whereas I am using a general purpose off the shelf one, but it works decently well.
is it only available for apple or for android/samsung too?
Android too! But I need your google play email if you’re happy to share it, it’s in closed testing. You can DM me. I have about 6 Android tests and need 12 in total.
