I was wondering if there was any way to tell the difference between Pantherophis spiloides (grey ratsnake) Pantherophis alleghaniensis (eastern ratsnake) and Pantherophis obsoletus (western ratsnake) without knowing where the snake was found. I know they can be visually the same but what about things like scalation.
Hi @Camp-Elias is this a homework-related question, or something out of personal interest?
also, do you have an account on iNaturalist itself? It’s best to link that account with your forum account :)
