Well, as I knew it would, my trip to Reno and surrounds finally put me over 1,000 species – mostly because it is an unfamiliar biome for me and therefore full of organisms that will draw my attention:
As you see, I actually kept going far past 1,000 species.
Although no one day on that trib broke my current record for most obervations during a day (that record stands at 32 on April 25th of this year, which was the day I visited the salt marshes for CNC):
if I add up the observations from those four days, in the aggregate, they slightly more than double that record: 69 observations total for the trip. This includes the first-runner-up day of June 30, with 25 observations:
