iNat Observation leads to big range extension in Australia

A rare violet previously known only from the mainland was recently found in Tasmania via iNat! Awesome.

“It takes relatively little time for me to review the observations that come through.”

(We need more taxon specialists who think like that)

“It’s important to spread the word because we currently know it from a single population, it may be more widespread and it’s just never been noticed.”
One answer to the “it’s rare, should I share?” dilemma.

And ABC News regularly mentions iNat in their nature / citizen science pieces:

Wow! So nice!
