I did get to see something like that over in Shark Valley after some noticeable flooding, where I feel like there was more evidence of crayfishes in general, but I haven’t seen as many farther south for some reason.
Back during the 2013 flood event here in Denver, a whole bunch of species ended up in odd places. (We were about three blocks away from the edge of the mandatory evacuation area.) One of the major north-south streets about a mile east of our house was flooded to the point that people were taking small boats out and fishing in the middle of what was usually a very busy urban corridor. One young man even caught a good-sized Northern Pike!
So, yeah; I’m second (thirding?) the suggestion of looking for things where they usually aren’t: herons in the yard, fish in a new waterway, things like that. If you have access to any kind of small watercraft (even an inflatable), you could probably even find saltwater species coming into brackish areas.
