Inaturalist and False Identifications

Hello everyone.
I have been constantly getting false identifications on purpose towards my species. Many of my plant observations are not RG. I have 12,977 plant observations, however only 4,483 of them are RG. 2,785 of these Needs ID are not at species level that were ID’ed. Certain genera are identifiable to species, such as Oenothera, Taraxacum, Vaccinium, Oxalis, and Parthenocissus with just one photo. However, 45 observations of Oenothera by me are at genus level. Take this example.

And this example:

By no means am I an expert in any taxa. I am a beginner in fungi, most plants, inverts, protists, chromists, bacteria, and non-avian vertebrates. However, I am between amateur and expert in local birds, and amateur in rare NY state plants. I have used keys to find species and I am still being shot down. I would like to know why this feels like bullying. I am only 14 and it feels hurtful for photos that are identifiable to be placed at higher taxa by people who are not experts. The main plant identifier of the Northeast(tsn) rarely identifies my plants, and less than 33% of my plant observations are RG. I may have made some errors in my facts and calculations.
Thanks,
Robby

Does anyone have similar experiences?

There has been a few threads discussing this topic, which I suggest giving a quick read. Eg. https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/false-research-grade-observations/14193

This is not about false identifications, it is about purposely putting higher taxa to prevent RG

But in general, if you can clearly state out the reasonings supporting your ID along with references if possible, then that makes a strong case for you.

I do not have clear references to solve the problem, I just know that they are identifiable based on other observations

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/56871766 Take this example. The identifier is VERY good, nearly an expert in botany. No side shot necessary in this one.

I’m going to close this topic for a bit, as it’s not following Forum guidelines. @yayemaster I or another mod will get back to you soon.

Sorry

If you have specific issues where you feel someone is inappropriately marking your observations with wrong IDs, your best bet is probably emailing help@inaturalist.org. We try to keep specific issues about specific observations and users off of the forum.
