the China GCJ-02 vs WGS84 issue is a completely different problem that has to do with Chinese laws and regs rather than the place boundaries defined in iNaturalist.
on the website (but not in the apps) you also have the option to use OpenStreetMap tiles, which folow WGS84 and will line up with Google’s aerial imagery.
