Internal server error when getting Computer Vision suggestions for a gif

Description of problem : computer vision suggestions loading fails with an observation whose cover image is animated.

is computer vision designed to work on animated GIFs?

I can’t say for sure, but I doubt it. Animated GIFs are not officially supported on iNat.

Some observations with animated GIF do not cause the error, for instance:

i guess if animated GIFs are not supported and the problem seems to be associated with animated GIFs – even if some other animated GIFs are evaluated fine – then maybe it’s time to close the thread? (not supported = no troubleshooting effort by staff?)

“Not supported”, to be correct, requires the UI not to behave like that:

A fix could be displaying “No suggestions available” when the server response is received, overwriting “Loading suggestions…”.
