Is the Forum and Nature Talk a suitable place for identification guides? In light of the issues this particular one faced, may I suggest an alterative? I have utilized my own Journal posts to offer analogous types of analysis, then added links to those posts in the More Info list on the species taxon pages. This is not an ideal way to disseminate ID information but it’s the best I’ve found so far. For instance, see the More Info list under the About tab for the moth genus Petrophila.
And here are a few more examples. My journal posts are recognizable from the small green iNat bird icon in the More Info list:
Eudesmia cypris, an endemic lichen moth of west Mexico.
Common Pink Band and look alike moth species.
Etc.
