I think you’re asking about requiring the observer to make a comment while trying to revise the observer’s own ID after a second person suggests something different. I don’t think this would happen, and I’m not sure it’s workable since a lot of new users on the apps haven’t figured out how to use comments yet. I think there’s a feeling that new users shouldn’t be discouraged when they’re trying to learn how to use iNat.

Absolutely understandable.
Recently I’ve seen so many Unknown or Life IDs and even more blank profiles. I was thinking too widely; imagining a way to encourage more thoughtful use of iNat. However, you’re correct…too many required steps and/or fields feels like performing a task, not engaging in enjoyable citizen science.
