Recently, I’ve been wondering if I could put my better photos on an account and the average photos on a separate account. Are there any rules or guidelines against this? Any thoughts and insight would be greatly appreciated.

You could also just use Tags to mark your better photos and leave the “regular” photos untagged
In this case, if you are in Your Observations, you can search for the Tag in the filters and review all your fave pics easily

Technically, I think iNat guidelines say one account per user. Tags are a great way to keep track of certain subsets of observations. You can also “fave” some of your own observations if there are really nice ones you want to highlight.

I once asked the same thing, and the answer was no, only one account per user. By the way, I am quite upset by this rule, as I wanted to have one account for identifying the species group I specialize in, and the other to post and identify all other species (among other things, I would have the notifications from these two “areas of activity” separated thanks to this). Well, dura lex, sed lex. As a result, I just don’t use iNat for posting my observations and identifying species from outside my main area as often as I could having two accounts.
I agree this would be a major incentive.

I also wanted to be more ‘anonymous’ with my other observations (on my account I described myself quite a bit ;))

Yes, as others have noted, you should not make >1 account/user. There are very limited exceptions (for institutional accounts for instance). Extra accounts will generally be suspended.
