Any species that gets in the way or makes taking observatios harder?
For me personally i have beef with scoliid wasps, they are incredibly fast, huge, loud and like to get in your face whenever youre close enough to any large area they decide to patrol rigorously.
Skinks (Scincidae) because their fight-or-flight is turned up to 11 on flight. Good luck taking a photo before it runs off. For example the Western Skink (Plestiodon skiltonianus) has a beautiful blue tail that’s just barely seen because it scurried off.
Those tiny woodland bees that fly quickly and blend in well with the forest floor.
Homo sapiens, usually.
I cannot count how many times I have stilled my movements and crouched to take a photo, barely breathing, only for a member of my own family, without any mal-intent, to walk up and/or call to me, sending whatever creature I was attempting to document flying or flitting away.
(They are still my favorite members of the species though.)
Humans are a good one, but in terms of non-human animals I would say Domestic Cats- there have been many times where I have tried blacklighting for moths and beetles and the feral cats around here will come over and destroy my setup. I dont blame them, they obviously dont know I am trying to attract moths. The same can also be said for large flying beetles, when they come in and hit the wall or sheet my light is on, they typically scare off any smaller insects I was trying to photograph.
Biting midges and flies can also be very disruptive when you are trying to go iNatting and they just wont leave you alone.
I was just going to say deer flies. Even if I have repellent on, they may not bite, but they still buzz me and land on me.
Every encounter I’ve had with a tick has been against my will.
