Seasonally appropriate, too!

(Though for some reason I interpreted the flower on the right as an umbellifer rather than ivy and I was very confused because the bee is clearly a Colletes and our only Colletes that visit umbellifers are either polylectic or specialized on Eryngium.)

Good job jellies! I heard the Man-o-wars help out too sometimes!

if it’s any consolation, ivies are relatively closely related to umbellifers (Araliaceae is the closest relative of Apiaceae)

Okay, not funny, but a sobering perspective from the legendary R Crumb and the Village Voice, circa 1976, featuring Mr. Natural.

How much can an ant recognise a human as distinct from any other mountainous creature? (Serious question, even if I’m potentially opening a can of worms… or ants? (Why would worms ever be canned anyway?))

I guess that might make sense - I’ve never been fishing so it hadn’t occurred to me. I’d certainly prefer to feed worms to fish than eat them myself… :-)

I don’t eat the fish either ;~)

And their excuse is that they want to have a nice open green space to lie down on and read a book, or have a picnic.
