You could also draw the circle and just wait a few thousand years while it develops in the a crab ![]()
Oh this is so accurate! I hate it when these books do that! It’s always something like, draw an oval, add eyes, then add details and poof! You have a falcon. The only thing I ever end up learning is that I can’t draw.
Yeah, I had those books too, and never mastered any of it. Like would also see these sorts of things and be like, I feel you are missing 20 steps.

That may be because kids are taught to be afraid of making mistakes. Steps 1 and 2 are there to show you the right proportions, which are the biggest hurdle; filling in the details takes experimentation as you train your eye and hand.
If you think that’s the biggest hurdle, you must be able to draw… :-)
I think the biggest hurdle for adults is being ok with “mistakes”, in whatever new endeavor, especially arting and crafting!
My mother and I decided that the difference between “art” and “craft” is in the details… we have been lifelong crafters… I will indeed point out the mistakes of you can’t find them. We like to remember that only God is perfect and our mistakes prove we are human.
That is, if we are humans, and not just a creature disguised as one…
(Joking…or am I?)
My friend had this happen to him. It was the most confusing crap of my life
Instructions unclear. I created a monster
Bleach time!!!
It’s the biggest hurdle in learning to draw. Getting the proportions right is where people who can’t draw have the most trouble.
Would that be one of the “jeweled crabs” mentioned in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy?
Now I have to read the Hitchhiker’s Guide again.
I was inspired by this:
So I created this CAPTCHA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAPTCHA
(I guess it is technically a reCAPTCHA v2) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReCAPTCHA
One more . . .
Here’s one I made for people (including myself, cause I do it often) who think the scientific name for gingko is Gingko bilboa, not Gingko biloba.
What about Gingko rockii balboa?
It’s actually Ginkgo, not Gingko…
“Rocky Biloba”
(I’m writing down what you wrote so we can find your post again, because Discourse search doesn’t read the text on memes . . . yet)
