There was a recent taxon swap for Cooper’s Hawk. [1] I want to read up on this but am having some trouble finding publications that are related - I did a quick 5 minute search on google scholar and turned up nothing. And I poked around the linked taxon change page and couldn’t find any linked articles. Am I looking in the wrong places?
From eBird:
and I believe the main paper was this one? https://academic.oup.com/biolinnean/advance-article/doi/10.1093/biolinnean/blae028/7633854

Thank you, @neontetraploid !
I saw this too. I’m assuming this is like plant taxonomy where iNat curators will race to make any change to taxonomy anyone proposes regardless of merit or impact on users. This paper at least appears to be fully peer reviewed and published, which isn’t always true for the plant ones. So maybe birds are a little more reasonable in their taxonomy on here. You can reject automatic taxon changes on your account, but there isn’t much else you can do about it.
