Observation spanning several life stages

Check out this observation of a Cicada tracking it from nymph to teneral to sclerotized adult: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/52915017 .

I’m curious on options of the best way to put such observations on inaturalist. It cannot be annotated with life stage, because several are present. It could be broken up into three different observations, one per stage, with notes linking the observations together. Opinions on the best way to handle are appreciated. Thanks.

I think that should be done

I believe there was a related thread about this somewhere in the forum, but I have no time to find it at this stage. The general conclusion was that we use the observation ID number in the hyperlink as a tag to link the different observations of a lifestage together. Here is one of my examples: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?q=28034671&search_on=tags

I agree.

Or use the observation field “Similar observation set”:

a separate observation per stage, makes it possible to find photos for each stage.
