I took some pictures of leaf galls recently, and while reviewing them saw that this one included a couple of globular springtails. In my mind, the larger of the 2 facing the gall is saying “Behold! The Great Gall!”, while the smaller may be rolling its eyes…
Yes, except that the one black flower at the center of the head is not a separate observation; it is a characteristic of Queen Anne’s Lace.
It looked like someone underneath.
I found a lot of extra things hiding in this photo.
I meant to take a photo of the sea cucumber in the center but noticed several other creatures afterward.
First, there is a scaleworm hiding beneath the sea cucumber. Fortunately, I noticed that when I took the photo, and got another picture of it. Not a super good one though.
Most of the creatures in the photo I didn’t notice until much later.
There’s also a few tubeworms, and a probably unidentifiable slug like thing above the sea cucumber.
Banded Longhorn Beetle
July 4,2021, just went RG… and so I’ve just now seen the little guy on the left… in all 3photos
There’s now a project for some of these: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/invisible-insects
I didn’t notice the little pseudoscorpion hitchhikers when I recently photographed this beetle.
Yesterday when reviewing photos, I found what appears to be a mystery creature on the abdomen of this knobbled orbweaver (Socca pustulosa). Any ideas?
This photo of a Erthesina acuminata has a red mite on it’s shell and a fly on the bottom of the leaf!
Thrips (Thysanoptera) maybe?
I can see three more even :P
10 insects in total (not counting the “teddy bear” which is part of the plant, and assuming I haven’t missed some too), classic “find the hidden objects” picture. Haha
Link me to it and I’ll help with the bee flies
