if you think that looks weird, you’ll be amazed at the stunning diversity of the thousands of other plant species out there that don’t look like generic plants :)
Big Bend is an awesome place, by far my favorite place in Texas while I was living there. So much habitat and wildlife diversity. And so much vast remote space in the park that it’s no surprise new things are still being discovered there.
As for weird plants out there, probably the weirdest (and one of the coolest) I’ve seen at Big Bend is the Living Rock Cactus. They’re very hard to spot until you see the first one in an area that has them, and then when you have the image in your head you start seeing them all around the area
