As for ā€œunfocussing the backgroundā€ - do that in the camera by opening your lens. f2.8 gives you a fuzzier background than f11 for example

In this case, the poster is shooting with a phone, so adjusting the aperture is likely not an option. Even on my pretty-good superzoom camera, I donā€™t have direct aperture control like I would on a DSLR.

as already mentioned earlier GIMP and Darktable are great.

I am also starting to import my android pictures to an external HDD and organize via Digikam.

Digikam does a lot - organize, rename, add tags etc ā€“ but I use only a fraction of the capabilities.

In fact for all the above software I use , the actual usage of tools and processes is just a fraction of what is available. And sometimes when on mailing lists I wonder wow ā€“ there is so much that can be done.

However at the end of the day given time constraints and the required output one has to just be comfortable with what they can use.

Thank you Inspector - I am using an I phone13 - great close up shots but want to remove background -

So, with a Chromebook itā€™s best to look in Google Play for an app. I use Windows and Linux and could give ideas for those operating systems but I havenā€™t tried Chrome yet.
