Place won't open from Search

When I type “Middlesex” into the search bar on the website (tested on multiple browsers and devices), and click “about” next to “Middlesex, ON, CA (county)”, it brings up the following page: https://www.inaturalist.org/places/search?q=null

Observation searches work normally, and if I add the place ID to the URL the page comes up fine: https://www.inaturalist.org/places/49194

A few other places tested work fine.

This happens when a place has a null slug –

It’s come up before a few times (e.g. here and here).
Since Middlesex is admin level 2, it can only be edited by staff.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Place I made is found in Universal search but when selected shows as “Null”

Is there any way to run a report for null slugs, and then let curators fix them?

I’m sure it’s possible for staff to query the database for null slugs, but I don’t know if they have the time/inclination to do it. In theory, anyone could do it via the API, but with about 75000 places and almost 100000 projects, it’s probably not a good use of the API.
I don’t have any idea how many of the broken places have admin levels, but curators can’t fix those, only staff.

This was fixed, so I’m going to close it.
