We have abandoned the archive for resolved pre-mavericks and moved on to Placeholder Backup with 19K. (Hoping that since the new app has no placeholders, in time, we will get a better solution from iNat for website too)
If you click that, the Identify page will show you observations that have at least one ID that is an explicit disagreement.
I’ve been testing this over the past week and I find it quite useful, especially if I also filter for taxa and places I know well.
Now, we’ve had to reindex basically every observation on the site over the past week or more for this to work, and the reindexing job isn’t complete yet. As of a few hours ago, it was still going through observations from 2022, but we’re releasing it now. I’ll make a bigger announcement once it’s completely ready.
Let us know if you think it’s helpful and if you notice any bugs.
This is fantastic, thank you–I’ll definitely be using this feature often.
Also works to look at one’s own observations for disagreements one may have missed the notification for. I found a bizarre taxon-swap gone awry that let to a disagreement I would never have found otherwise.
This is fantastic indeed! Thank you for this long-awaited feature! I have some clean-up to do.
Does it filter both for active and inactive disagreement? For example, in this observation https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/195023271 the first ID has been removed and all active IDs agree. Is it possible to ignore such observations?
Joining the chorus of this is great, thank you! Seems I missed quite a few notifications about disagreements… This makes it so much easier to find them!
Another use for this new feature: Disagreements often prompt detailed explanations of how to identify stuff. I’ve already found a good number of valuable hints for telling tricky species apart checking for disagreements and looking at those with comments.
