Community Reviewed or Community ID’d do look like good alternatives.

I agree with separating "cultivated’ from “casual”. Not too long ago, Michael Oldham, an expert botanist, uploaded about a hundred thousand high quality sight records of plants. It seems a bit of a shame to have his data mixed with cultivated records.
Also if “cultivated” and “casual” were split it might be possible to filter on sight records for all the people in a region.
