Rhus trilobata vs. aromatica?

Hey all,

Can anyone help me understand why Rhus aromatica and R. trilobata are considered the same on iNaturalist? (Or are they?!)

From what I’m familiar with, naturally growing skunkbrush sumac here in Colorado is R. trilobata. I’ve also used these maps in the past, and wonder about the discrepancy in USDA vs iNat definitions of these species.

R. aromatica: https://plants.usda.gov/core/profile?symbol=RHAR4

Thanks,
Matt
