Source of sawfly vernacular names

The Sawfly Recording Scheme of Great Britain now has preferred vernacular names for all the sawflies species found in the United Kingdom. These are being uploaded to the UK Species Index and will eventually filter into iRecord. As administrator for the scheme I had been adding these to iNat on an ad hoc basis but no longer appear to have that option. Do I need to become a curator or can iNat pick up the English vernacular names from the UK Species Index in the way that iRecord does?
Thanks.

welcome to the forum

Any common names won’t be picked up automatically from other portals, and will need to be added manually as usual

so if you go to eg https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/794459-Hemichroa-australis and click the Taxonomy tab, you don’t see this button?

Unfortunately not.

Aha! The button is there when I’m not signed in but disappears when I sign in.

that’s quite strange, and should be the other way around

Yes. It is very annoying. If I click on the Add button not logged in it asks me to log in and then the button disappears. Have I been blacklisted for some reason. Who can I contact to resolve as names are being randomly added that are not in agreement with the Sawfly Recording Scheme.

There is an open bug report for this issue here: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/add-a-name-appearing-when-not-logged-in/60647

If a name is in violation of the Curator Guide, or if you’re not sure if it’s inappropriate, you can click Curation>Flag for curation on the taxon page.
