I don’t know a whole lot about this, but in my own area the american red squirrel and the black billed magpie have a bitter rivalry.
When a magpie sees a squirrel it’ll usely start relentlessy chasing it until one of them gets tired. I’ve seen a few instances when the magpie nearly caught the squirrel too. I hate to think what would happen then. 
I’ve heard that both species will eat each other’s young though I don’t know how true this is.
I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this.
