The Bugun Liochicla , a remarkable conservation story in NE India

Hi everyone,
Some time back I visited the Eaglenest sanctuary in NE India. This is a place that’s on every birder’s wishlist. An amateur birder (with plenty of help from the local Bugun tribe) discovered a species new to science in the late nineties (a big deal) and the resulting fame and eco-tourism boom that followed perhaps saved this piece of forest being cut down for a highway. It’s a remarkable place for many reasons and if anyone is visiting these parts, please do consider this slightly remote bit of wilderness. There is plenty besides birds here and sadly very few iNat observations. I have a writeup from my trip here. I do hope to see more iNat observations from here !
Cheers
