Yesterday I was watching the total sun eclipse. I was in a park that its in the border of the city and a protected forest. When the total eclipse ended and light started coming back all the bats started flying back to the forest in the biggest bats flocks I have seen in my life. Groups of 20 to 30 bats crowded the sky. They normally hunt a lot in the streetlights of the city and other sources of light. My theory is that they started waking up and going from the forest to the city with the total eclipse, and they rushed back home at the forest when the light came back up. Anyone has interesting wildlife stories of the eclipse? (Heres some bats I uploaded to inat and my photo of the event)

I have no stories just jealousy. It sounds like an absolutely incredible experience! I have only experienced one total solar eclipse (April 2024) and the whole experience was so AMAZING! Among other things, it was fascinating how the night insect sounds started and stopped in the middle of the day.
Ah, I’m really jealous! I saw a total eclipse in Zimbabwe many years ago, and we were surrounded by the dusk and then dawn chorus, and many bats. This time I was in central Spain, and we heard almost nothing. My boyfriend, who has never seen a total eclipse before, thinks we’re lying about fauna reactions!
