I have noticed occasionally someone rapidly confirming large volumes of research grade observations for which they very likely don’t have the skills to ID. This can often be detected by the diversity of difficult-to-ID taxa they are confirming. This obviously creates problems if any of these IDs turn out to be wrong. Is there anything that can be done about this behavior?

Maybe try to contact the user first and if no response, you can write an email to help@inaturalist.org and they will check on the situation and probably contact the user if it is indeed suspicious. I noticed something similar in the past and they were quick to take care of it. Sometimes, it is just a user that needs a bit of guidance…
