After reviewing comments from staff, moderators, and everyone else, I’m changing my attitude on this topic. I now think that the better solution is to not include dual species observations, but rather to upload them singly and separately, then do the comparisons in journal posts which offer a discussion of the ID challenge. That said, I also think journal posts need to be more searchable so that interested observers can find such posts. That’s a different, separate topic.
With that conclusion on my part, I’m probably going to (eventually) delete my Turkey wing/mossy ark observation referenced above. I note again that both species were also uploaded individually.

Personally I’d still include the comparison picture, but just have the default picture of only one shell. Perhaps delete the turkey/mossy wing observation and add the comparison photo to both.
