Doing IDs just now, I figured mine out: how is it that I have never seen a Blue-winged Teal? I have spent a lot of time in their range, seen lots of Green-winged Teals and even Cinnamon Teals, but not Blue-winged.

Exactly! Same for me too (except for the cinnamon teals).

Psuedomethoca Simillima. Although it can be a common velvet ant where I am, I wanted to find a large female and take photos of it. I searched for a while until I accidentally found one on a walk.
