I feel really bad about this…lemme start there. It was in my backyard, my kids and dog went nuts. It’s tail tip started shaking and i thought i was doing the right thing by dispatching it to protect them.
Was this a baby rattler or a gopher snake? In reading more about it, I’m betting on a gopher snake mimicking a rattler. Any experts out there to confirm what it was? (see photo)
This is a gopher snake. They help to control the rodent population in our neighborhoods. Please don’t kill wildlife. Even if it was a rattlesnake, you can just call someone to relocate it. Thank you for your understanding.
