I caught this the other day. Has anyone else seen this in Golden Eyes?
There are a few pairs floating about, and I have seen some impressive displays.
But is filling your cheeks with water and squirting it out part of their courtship dance move card?
How about you? What are some of the weirdest waterfowl courtship behaviours that you’ve seen?
I love the sounds male Common Eider make and how they move when they are making it. They stretch out their heads and necks, tip their heads way back and say “aWOOOoooooo!” It sounds very inappropriate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=po0WRnThoMA
Makes me wonder if the Eider was the inspiration for one of the most famous Warner Bros cartoon characters, Daffy.
