We have had in Alberta for 2 winters 1 pelican that overwinters successfully near High River AB at a lake that has a spot that never freezes over where it gets fish. Feeling is it may have been injured that affected long flights. It can fly. It’s flown off at the present - has done so before - but has not been seen for days. If someone has an unusual pelican sighting on an open body of water within a days flight of High River or even saw it flying over a winter landscape thinking it was odd please jump on this and send your sightings. We’re now trying to trace her whereabouts.
